The Revealing of the “Mystery” Colossians 1:26-27 “The mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
Paul like to use the word mystery and used it at least seventeen times in his New Testament Epistles. There are several definitions of the word mystery, but the one I believe that tells us what a New Testament mystery is, comes from Webster’s dictionary; “A religious truth that one can know only by revelation and cannot fully understand.”
First, we need to remember the entire Holy Bible is a specific revelation. General revelation can be found in nature and the created world around us. It tells us that there is designer behind the design. There is a creator behind the creation. But divine, specific revelation is the Holy Bible. Through creation we can see and acknowledge that there is a God, a Divine being who created and sustains everything. But through the Bible we can know specifically Who this God is.
I believe with all my heart, and stake both my life and eternity upon the fact, that the Holy Bible is God’s specific revelation and is divinely inspired, infallible, inerrant (without error), and it is eternal. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
The Bible unveils the mysteries of God to us. The Bible reveals to us who we are, where we are from, where we are all going one day, and what on earth we are here for. Over the centuries the Bible has proven to be both reliable and indestructible! Jesus Himself said, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but by no means will my word pass away.” (Matthew 24:35; Mark 13:31; Luke 21:33)
Jesus also said, “Sanctify them through thy word, thy word is truth.” (John 17:17). And He said, “The words that I speak to you are spirit and they are life.” (John 6:63).
Today, this Bible we that hold dear to our hearts and hold in our hands, is indeed the very Word of God, and will and can bring salvation, peace, and hope into your life! Only through the words in this Book can we begin to experience the mysteries of God, our universe and ourselves even if we can’t fully understand them.
Please, believe, trust and obey this Book and you will be eternally changed!
God bless!
