A Faith That Produces Faithfulness Colossians 1:1-2 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ who are in Colosse: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

The word “faithful” shows up no less than fifty-two times in the New Testament. Paul told the church at Corinth that “Moreover it is required in stewards to be found faithful” (1 Corinthians 4:2). We are told that “without faith we cannot please God” (Hebrews 12:6). How do we know that our faith is the real thing? I’m convinced that if we have a genuine faith in Jesus Christ it will be evidenced by our faithfulness in our daily life!

In my many years as a pastor the one quality in a person that encourages and excites me more than any other is faithfulness. To see a believer, day in and day out, week after week, and year after year, consistently loving and serving the Lord Jesus Christ blesses me more than anything else!

Paul begins this letter to the church of Colossae by calling the believers there, “saints and faithful brethren in Christ”. Matter of fact, he mentions that they learned and grew in the Lord because of Epaphras “who is a faithful minister of Christ on your behalf” (Col. 1:7).

Do you want be found faithful as a good steward of all the wonderful blessings that the Lord has entrusted you with at His appearing? Do you want to hear the words when you stand before Jesus one day to give an account of your stewardship, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant”! (Matthew 25:21)

If so, then you must make Christ your life (Col. 3:4), and everyday remember the source of your strength and the sustenance for your life is to be found only in Christ. “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” (Colossians 2:9-10)

It is my prayer today that the Lord will find us faithful because of our deep and abiding faith in Christ alone!

God bless!
