Romans 8:26-27

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

One of the greatest promises and provisions that we have as a follower of Jesus Christ is that the Holy Spirit will be present in our lives to help us in our prayers. Every day we should be exercising two of the most important and crucial disciplines of our spiritual lives. They are taking time to have an intake of God’s Word and meditating on it, and also making time to commune with God through prayer! Paul calls these two disciplines the “mighty weapons” of our warfare.

But so often, as we are face difficulties, we feel confused and frustrated and don’t know how to even pray about them. These might be within our families, maybe with one of our children who has chosen to rebel and now is in trouble with the authorities, with addictions or with some other major issue. Or it might be a situation with a spouse, a co-worker, a neighbor or even a fellow believer that has broken your heart and is tearing you apart.

In this passage we are promised, in the midst of this weakness we feel, that the Holy Spirit will help us, and if we will simply yield the situation to Him in prayer and give Him the opportunity to take our mind and heart, then He will make intercession for this problem or situation according to the mind and will of God.

I love the promise that comes with this in 1 John 5:14-15, Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

Today, claim these promises as yours and experience God’s powerful provisions!

God bless!
